Wakefield Middle School
Wakefield Middle School is a traditional calendar middle school in the Wake County Public School System. The school, located in northern Raleigh, North Carolina, serves more than 1200 students.[1][2]
History
Wakefield Middle School was opened in 2000, and is situated between Wakefield Elementary and Wakefield High School. The school was created to help meet the growing Wake County population, especially in northern Raleigh and Wake Forest.
Academics
All students study a core curriculum of Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies each semester. Students may may choose from a variety of electives, including fine arts, performing arts, and career/technology courses.
Athletics at Wakefield
Wakefield's students compete in a variety of sports throughout the school year.[3]

- Art Club
- Beta Club - The National Beta Club promotes character, develops leadership skills, encourages service involvement, recognizes achievement, and provides technological advantages. Our motto is "Let us lead by serving others." Qualifications include worthy character, good mentality, creditable achievement, and commendable attitude.[5]
- Chess Club
- Battle of the Books - America's Battle of the Books, ABB, is a reading incentive program for students in grades 4th-12th. Students read books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read.[6]
- Odyssey of the Mind - An educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.[7]
